The ten point agenda focuses on the following strategies for enhancement of revenue in Lagos State, with great success: Diversification of revenue sources; widening tax net; effective revenue collection mechanism; and database development.
Since 1999 when our government began these initiatives, the monthly internally generated revenue has risen from 600 million naira per month to an average of 15 billion naira a month, the bulk of which is channeled to social services, infrastructure development, management of the environment and job creation among others.
